Docs waiting for promotion list of Joint Directors

PNS

The doctors of State Medical and Health services are eagerly awaiting the promotion list of Joint Directors after Departmental Promotion Committee (DPC) completed the process recently.

The Medical Health department completed the first DPC of the Senior Medical Officers (SMO) after the implementation of new transfer policy. It is worth mentioning here that the transfer policy was formulated on special intervention of Chief Minister Harish Rawat after reports of alleged irregularities and corruption in the department surfaced.

In the DPC the department promoted 88 SMO to the post of Joint Directors (JD). Incidentally the DPC was conduced in the month of July this year in which 77 SMO were promoted but the department failed to release the list in time and later fresh DPC was conducted this month in which names of 88 doctors are there.

The doctors are now anxiously awaiting the release of list. The delay in release of list is creating confusion and speculation is rife that the list is being delayed to adjust some of the doctors in their desired places.

The General Secretary of Provincial Medical and Health Services (PMHS) Dr S K Goswami said that the department should release the list to end the wait of the doctors. Since promotions would also mean transfer of doctors the mountainous areas of the state which are reeling under acute shortage of doctors are expected to get some senior doctors.
