Resentment is brewing among the State Government doctors over delay in official declaration of the Departmental Promotion Committee (DPC) list of joint directors. The Provincial Medical Health Services (PMHS), the association of Government doctors has threatened to start an agitation if the list is further delayed.
The Medical Health department had conducted the DPC of the Senior Medical Officers to the grade of Joint Director. There are 77 doctors which would be promoted to the position of joint Director. The apprehension among the doctors is that since the promotion would also accompany the transfer, the delay is causing suspicion that those with proper connections with high and mighty would be able to get postings at the desired places. The General Secretary of PMHS, Dr S K Goswami demanded that the government should soon release the list otherwise the doctors would be forced to start an agitation. He said that the general body of PMHS would meet on September 6 and decide on the future course of action.
