Acting on a report of  absenteeism, the State Government terminated the services of a doctor, Heena Mittal, associated with the Gynaecology department of the Government Doon Medical College (GDMC), with immediate effect, on Saturday.

Along with this, three Junior Residents (JR), working  with the surgical department of the  hospital, have been served show-cause notice for the same reason. Principal of the hospital Dr PB Bharti confirmed this while talking to The Pioneer over phone. Dr Mittal remaining absent from duty for the  past one month, the principal, GDMC,  had referred the matter to the State Government.

Similarly, the three JRs, who are associated with surgical department, have been staying  away from the hospital for the past one month. If they fail to submit explanation by the date  their service would be considered as terminated, sources  say.

Meanwhile, Dr Bharti said they had cleared the  pending payment of annual maintenance (AMC) of the MRI machine. Besides,  fresh AMC  will be signed with Messr Philips Private ltd  for  MRI machines.
