Pioneer News Service

Acting on media reports about infection in the operation theater meant for eye surgeries in Doon Medical College Hospital, Principal Dr Pradeep Bharti Gupta issued a notice to the head of the eye department, Dr Sushil Ojha on Saturday, gagging doctors and stopping them from sharing any information on the DMC on social media or with the national media with immediate effect.

This aside, the programme for inauguration of the newly- built Doon Medical College has been postponed by an order issued by the State Medical Education Minister.

The date would be announced later, it said.

Notably, a few days ago, it was reported that the vision of a patient whose cataract was operated upon in the eye OT of DMC blurred following the surgery.

The doctors ascribed this to the OT being infected.

Sources said that despite the DMC administration being aware of the infected OT, they had not stopped the doctor from carrying on the operation.

Sources further said that after the media published the story, those running the administration took the  doctors to task for informing the reporters about what happened inside the facility.

Moreover, Dr Ojha has been asked to submit the investigation report by August 11 following which action would be taken.
