The District Magistrate of Dehradun Chandresh Kumar convened an emergency meeting of Doon Hospital management committee on Wednesday in view of situation arising out of strike of sanitation workers.
Expressing strong displeasure on the Uttarakhand Purva Sainik Kalyan Nigam limited (UPNl) officials for failing to give satisfactory reply on the strike Kumar said that UPNl has to work as per the guidelines laid down in the tender and should make alternative arrangement if the workers are on strike. He asked the Principal Medical Superintendent (PMS) of Doon Hospital Dr RS Aswal to immediately send a letter to UPNl recommending removal of the striking sanitation workers and ask for their replacement by Thursday (September 25). The DM said that if the UPNl fails to provide sanitation workers its tender would be cancelled and the sanitation works would be handed over to some other contractor/ agency.
The management committee of hospital uninanimously authorised its President DM Chandresh Kumar to take appropriate action on the matter. The meeting was attended by the representatives of Member of Parliaments, Mayor and Rajpur Road MlA.
