In order to facilitate the observance of Ramadan with harmony and peace, Dehradun Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Nivedita Kukreti issued instructions and conducted meeting with peace committees in every police station. The police department has been asked to remain alert not only towards any violent activity but also to ensure smooth traffic during the month.

Superintendent of Police (city) Shweta Chowbey said, “We have conducted meetings with all peace committees. Instructions have been given to observe Ramadan with harmony and peace. Officers in every police station have also been instructed to respond immediately on any issue.

They have also been instructed to make sure that traffic runs smoothly.”

Circle Officer (city) Shekhar Suyal said, “We all have conducted meeting with peace committees in every police station to ensure peace and harmony in the city.

We have also requested mosque committees to install CCTV’s at the main gates. As such there is no major issue; we have just spoken about basic concerns. ”

It is pertinent to mention here that the month of Ramadan which will start from May 6 in most countries is the holiest month in Islamic calendar.
