District cops told to intensify patrolling to curb burglaries

PNS

To stop burglaries and other incidents in the outskirts of city, Additional Director General of Police (law & order) Ram Singh Meena has directed the district police officers to intensify police patrolling in such areas under their respective jurisdiction.

The ADG said that in the review of previous year’s cases related to burglary, loot, theft and other crimes on the outskirts of plain districts, it has been revealed that gangs are active during winter season (December-January). The residents of these areas normally lock their homes in the evening hours (7-8 pm) and due to lack of beat policing, the gang members get enough time to conduct recce before burglarising such houses. Beat policing or police patrolling during night hours can put check on such crimes on the outskirts of cities in the plains, he added.

In some cases, the gang members had decamped with cash and jewellery after holding family members captive in a room. By keeping police force on alert in the suburban areas, such crime incidents can be prevented. Taking cognisance of this, ADG Meena has directed the district police officers to strengthen security in these areas through beat policing or intensifying police patrolling during night hours and ensure that cases like burglaries, loot and other theft cases do not occur in their respective jurisdiction.
