PNS

In a bid to improve quality of policing, Garhwal Range Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) Pushpak Jyoti inspected Dehradun police control room (100) on Wednesday and asked SSP Sweety Aggarwal to take steps to improve the functioning of the control room to help people, seeking police assistance, to contact the control room without any trouble.

DIG Jyoti said that while six lines of dial 100 are operational in the Dehradun control room two more will be added soon to cope with the rising number of callers.

He also directed the police officers to increase manpower in the control room to make it more effective. DIG directed the police control room employees to inform police officers of the police stations concerned promptly on receiving calls from the complainants to ensure swift action. The police control room employees were also directed to receive feedback from police station officers and pass them on to   the callers.

He directed the SSP to appoint a gazetted officer and direct him to instruct the employees about how to act on the calls. Besides, the SSP would review things once in a fortnight after inspecting police control room to see whether things are moving in the desired direction.
