'Differently-abled kids don't need our pity, but company, affection'

Members of Making a Difference by Being the Difference (MAD) group shared time with special children at Raphael Ryder Cheshire Home and organised a drawing competition for the children there on Sunday.

“Usually, when we look at the specially-abled, we have only our meaningless pity ready in store for them. What they need is company and true affection, not sorry faces and expressions,” said Syed Manzer Imam, a third year Dehradun Institute of Technology (DIT) student who was the key initiator behind this Sunday’s activity.

A group of 30 volunteers reached Raphael where a drawing competition was held for the special

children. The competition was successfully conducted with active participation from all residents of Raphael Home ranging from the children to senior citizens. At the conclusion of the drawing competition, Yashika, Jenny and Nishtha were declared the winners.
