The Director General of Police (DGP) Anil Kumar Raturi chaired a meeting with senior police officers on Tuesday to review shortcomings of the police in traffic management. He also said that a meeting will be conducted with other departments concerned in the near future for the safe and smooth conduct of Char Dham Yatra.

The focus of the meeting on Tuesday was on the shortcomings from the side of police department regarding traffic during Somwati Amavasya in Haridwar on June 3. The alternate routes for visitors coming from Delhi to Mussoorie or Badrinath were discussed in the meeting too.

It is pertinent to mention here that for the traffic operations in Mussoorie in addition to already deployed force 30 constables, four Sub- Inspectors, four home guards and one platoon of PAC was deployed on Monday by traffic directorate. Two additional units of City Patrol Unit and four Sub-Inspectors will also be deployed soon in Mussoorie.

It is also worth mentioning here that as the alternate route from Dehradun to Mussoorie, district police have started diverting traffic from Supply route via Kimadi to Lambidhar. The route is only operational for one way traffic and is only open from morning 6 to evening 6. According to Superintendent of Police (traffic) Prakash Chandra Arya the attempt has been successful so far.

According to sources from Police Headquarters, in the first or second week of July, the Uttarakhand police will be conducting a meeting with departments concerned for the planning for next year, next five years and next 10 years.
