Asked about the increased spate of ravaging forest fire this time in the State, DGP Ganapathy said that things were turning normal slowly. “The number of such fires has been coming down considerably since Sunday. Apart from SDRF personnel, around 700 police personnel are engaged into dousing the forest blaze. We are doing everything possible to bring things under control. We are still on alert. And if things warrant so we would engage more policemen in the task of putting out the forest fire,” he said.
“We can hardly take chances, given the gravity of the situation. We have directed all the police personnel to plunge headlong with all the resources lying at their disposal once any information of fresh fire comes,” the DGP added.
