The long queues at the associated hospital of Government Doon Medical College (DGMC) could be a thing of past as the hospital administration is planning to introduce online Out Patient Department (OPD) registration in the hospital soon. At present this facility is available only at All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) and PGI Chandigarh.
Informing about the decision the Principal of GDMC Dr Pradip Bharati Gupta said that digital OPD registration would be installed by National Informatics Centre (NIC) in the hospital. He added that the Medical Superintendent (MS) of the hospital Dr K K Tamta and head of department of ophthalmology, Dr Sushil Ojha would be the nodal officers for the programme.
The online OPD registration would prove immensely beneficial for large number of patients that visit the biggest hospital of the state from far flung areas. The hospital presently follows a system of OPD registration where the patients have to stand in queues. The queues are sometimes so long that many patients get a chance to visit the doctor next day. The online registration would help in saving precious time for the patients. Apart from saving time this system would also help in keeping a digital record of patients.
