DG school edu tightens grip over BRC and CRCs

PNS

The Director General (DG) of School education D Senthil Pandian has directed all the Chief Education Officers (CEO) of the State to undertake a comprehensive review of activities of all the Block Resource Coordinators (BRC) and Cluster Resource Coordinators (CRC) in their respective districts.

In his letter the DG has asked the CEOs to immediately relieve such BRC and CRC whose performance is not up to the mark and send them to their original schools. The CEOs would review the performance by inviting a meeting of concerned District Education Officers (DEO), Principals of District Institutes of Education and Training (DIET) and Block Education Officers (BEO).

The DG also threatened of strict disciplinary action if officials concerned did not take the order seriously or not initiate disciplinary action against the BRC/ CRC even after finding flaws in their activities.

Senthil Pandian was particularly concerned over the report submitted by the State level inspection teams after intensive assessment drive in Udham Singh Nagar district on July 20.

The Education Directorate had sent eight teams which after inspection of the schools gave a detailed presentation to the district magistrate and other senior officers on July 21. The crux of the presentation was that the knowledge level of the students is shockingly low and the schools are not getting desired educational support from the Block and cluster level.

The DG took a serious view of the report of the inspection teams and decided to tighten screws on all the BRC and CRC of state. It is learnt that the DG is not happy with the CRCs and BRCs as most of them are actually resourceful teachers who have managed to shift themselves from the teaching positions in schools to the regulatory positions. These CRCs and BRCs even attempted to stonewall the education department’s plan to create a separate cadre for these positions.
