Chief Minister Harish Rawat stressed that if every one does his work with devotion that would change the picture  of the State. “It is not  important what they are doing. But the devotion they lend to the execution of the  work is what counts,” he said while addressing a gathering at Ramlila ground after the inauguration of Pauri Autumn Festival on Wednesday.

Nagar Palika Parishad has organised the festival in the district headquarter Pauri. Chief Minister took the salute of the students from the local educational institutions. NCC cadets staged a march past at the bus station before  the CM.

Dwelling on the role the State Government has been playing to develop the State, he said that they are focused on many things with education figuring importantly.

“The State is surging  ahead in the field of education as compared  to other States.  We have  12 Government and private universities. Two more  are set to be added. Besides, we have 100 degree colleges and  ample number of inter and high schools. Despite Uttarakhand being a small State, it has many engineering colleges, IIT and polytechnics. Eight  more medical college will be established by the end of 2018,” he said.

CM Rawat  further said his government would not  brook any negligence on the  part of  the officials concerned in the realm of  education. “We  must  enhance the standard of the education right from the primary education sector,” he said.

Referring to the works done in the field of social welfare and empowerment of the women, he said the women are reaping benefits from a number of schemes launched for their welfare.

“However, transformation that we dream to bring about would remain a dream unless we link general development with that of agriculture and handicrafts. They are our identities. Schemes would yield the  desired results only when agriculture and handicrafts are adequately developed,” he said.

Acting on the charter of demands presented by the Nagar Palika Parishad president, CM announced allotment for many projects. “ `1.5 crore has been allotted for the under- construction bus station and `50 lakh for the slaughter house,” he said, adding that he had  directed the commissioner to take irrigation department  on board to start the construction of lawli lake.
