PNS

Angered with denial of ticket for the post of president in DAV (PG) College student union election, National Students’ Union of India member Swati Negi has resigned from the union and decided to contest union election as an independent candidate.

Negi alleged, “I was denied ticket because I did not pay Rs five lakh to the union,”. However, ex-NSUI State president Sandeep Kumar said that Bhupendra Negi was unanimously selected as candidate for the post of president in the college students’ union election by the elected district and State NSUI committee members. He was active member of NSUI for the last six years.

According to him, Swati Negi secured NSUI membership two years ago. She was responsible for dividing the NSUI members. Kumar denied that candidate has to pay money for securing ticket from the union. Swati Negi said that she has been working for the betterment of the college students for the last many years and will do the same in future. “I was honest worker of NSUI and I was eligible for securing ticket from the union. I was denied ticket in the last year and this year as I did not pay the money to union,” she alleged.

She claimed that some NSUI members will also resign from the union in coming days and they will support her in the union election. She alleged that Congress party claims 50 per cent reservation for women in any elections, but women are denied ticket during election. “I have submitted my resignation to the Congress chief Sonia Gandhi, party vice president Rahul Gandhi and NSUI national president through fax,” she added.
