With demand for ACs and refrigerators rising high of late, the ‘star’ conscious citizens have also turned out to be energy savers, preferring to purchase energy efficient cooling appliances.
With atmospheric temperature constantly hovering past 40 degrees Celsius, even in many hill stations of the State, coupled with unscheduled loadshedding for long hours and low voltage problem, the people are now conscious of the fact that buying energy efficient cooling appliances is the need of the hour. These energy saving appliances will not only help them beat the scorching summer heat but also provide some relief from inflated electricity bills at the end of the month.
Therefore, given certain factors in mind like quality and energy saving ability, demand from the domestic consumers for energy efficient ACs or refrigerators and coolers here is on the rise.“We have already sold 5,000 ACs across the Kumaon division this summer season,” said MS Rana, branch manager of Sharma Videos, Haldwani, a distributor of lG company for the Kumaon region.
“More so, keeping in view the demand, we have 2,500 more ACs from the domestic market of the Kumaon region,” he added. Sale of ACs has gone up this year as compared to the previous year. “Earlier we could sell about 5,000 ACs last year, this year we have already crossed 7,500 ACs sale mark so far and in view of the tougher summer conditions we believe the sale of the same cooling appliances could go higher ahead,” he further added.
Though prices of the ACs have been fixed as per their energy saving ability and quality, these increasing prices have not deterred the consumers to purchase the energy efficient cooling appliances. As the observers of the electronic market maintain prices and energy saving ability of ACs increase as per the star status of these equipments. “While two star ACs consume more energy, the three star ACs will be costlier but they will consume less energy as compared to the two star ACs. Similarly, the five star ACs will be priced higher than the three or two star ACs, but they will be more energy efficient as compared to the others,” they added.
Apart from ACs, business of coolers is also looking up. Generally, the businessmen expect sale of these cooling appliances like ACs, coolers or refrigerators to name a few during the months of April and May. But this time sale of the same appliances has maintained momentum even at this stage when monsoon is just around the corner.
