A delegation of BHEl employees’ union met the SO Ranipur police station on Thursday and urged him not to register ‘false’ cases against the employees under the prodding of BHEl administration without proper investigation. The union members have been in  a sulk mode since BHEl administration suspended eight employees on September 2 during the nation- wide strike.

They said the police must not act on the complaints being lodged against them at the  behest of the BHEl administration. “The BHEl officers are likely to approach Ranipur Police to register false cases against some of the employees. But police must not act on them sans investigation,” said a member of the trade union delegation.

It may be mentioned that on September 2, eight employees were suspended by the factory administration for breach of discipline allegedly done during the nation-wide strike. However, the suspension triggered anger among all the five unions functioning at BHEl Haridwar. Rajvir Singh, general secretary  BHEl Mazdoor Kalyan Parishad (BKMP) announced non- cooperation against the BHEl administration, saying it would continue till the suspension order was taken back. Meanwhile, Adesh Chauhan, MlA Bhadrabad has thrown his weight behind the suspended BHEl employees. He said he had written to Union home minister and Union minister for heavy industries to intervene in the matter. Prakash Chand, executive director, BHEl Haridwar urged the union leaders to end the non –cooperation with the company facing financial loss of nearly Rs12 crore per day.
