PNS

Handing over the report of MRI to patients after a gap of one day has been increasing the plight of seriously ill patients, who consult medical officers in the Doon Group of Hospitals in Dehradun.

Delay of one day of giving reports has been causing huge inconvenience to patients and their treatment is delayed by one day thus jeopardize their lives. The number of OPD (Out Patients Department) to Doon Hospital increases month after month especially after the hospital was upgraded with the latest medical equipments and pathological tests. But, the plight of the patients who consulted with the medical officers increase several times as they are called on for the next day to collect the report of pathological investigations and other medical investigation.

Patients also alleged that hospital based regional diagnostic centre gives less number of films of MRI done by the medical officers during OPD and non OPD hours in the hospital.Department sources revealed that the Doon Hospital’s share of MRI done during OPD hours is 100 per cent whereas 67 per cent share during non OPD hours. It is also noteworthy that around two dozen MRI is done per day. While speaking to The Pioneer, Dr RS Aswal, Principal Medical Superintendent said that the number of films of MRI depends on the part of the body scanned by the doctor.

He told that the stern instructions have been regularly passed to the medical officers and para medical staff for providing immediate relief to seriously ill patients who come to the hospital and further assured that the strict department action would be surely taken against those medical officers who fail to perform their duties as per the required standards.
