In protest against what they allege retrograde recommendations of the seventh pay commission, the All India Defence Employees Federation (AIDF) and other Central Government employee organisations would observe a Black Day on November 27.
The working committee member of AIDF, Jagdish Chandra Chimmwal told The Pioneer that the government employees are totally disappointed and dissatisfied with the recommendation of Central Pay Commission (CPC) submitted to the government on November 19.
He said that while the wage revision of the employees of Bank and Public Sector Undertaking (PSU) occur every five years the central government employees have to wait for ten years for wage revision.
The National Joint Council had raised a demand to fix the minimum pay to `26,000 but the CPC has ignored the demand of fixed the minimum pay at `18,000 per month.
Chimmwal claimed that recommendation amount to meager increase of `2250 from the existing minimum pay of `7000+ 8750 (125 per cent DA).
The employee associations are of the view that the public at large is misled by the statement of a hike of 23.5 per cent while the actual increase is only 14.29 per cent.
Chimmwal further pointed that in the CPC recommendation the gap between the highest and lowest pay has risen to 1: 13.8 which is more than the demand of ratio of 1: 8 by the employee unions. He said that in the recommendations the CPC has reduced the House Rent Allowance (HRA) from existing 30 per cent to 24 per cent, 20 per cent to 16 per cent and 10 per cent to 8 per cent.
The employee unions would hold nationwide demonstrations and protest meetings on November 27 and would meet on December 8 to finalise the future course of action on the issue.
