The education department’s decision to send more than 250 Block Resource Persons (BRP) and Cluster Resource Persons (CRP) back to their schools has evoked strong reaction from the association of Primary teachers. On the orders of state education minister, Arvind Pandey the department swung into action and removed more than 250 BRP and CRP and sent them packing to their original schools. The department also initiated the process of appointment of candidates selected through BRP and CRP examination conducted in the year 2014 on these posts.
This move of the department has annoyed the powerful ‘ Prathemik Shikshak Sangh’ the association of primary teachers of Government schools. The President of the Dehradun unit of the PSS, Virendra Singh Krishali said that this decision of the department would be opposed tooth and nail by primary teachers. He said that the department is looking determined to block all promotional avenues of primary teachers. “The BRP and CRP are and should be the posts of primary teacher cadre. Almost all the new BRP and CRP selected belong to the cadre of lecturers who don’t have any understanding of primary teaching and its problems. We want that the department should not remove those who are discharging duties on these posts for last many years,’’ he said.
Krishali threatened that the association would be forced to launch an agitation if the decision is not reversed soon. He informed that a delegation of PSS would meet the state Chief minister Trivendra Singh Rawat on Friday and apprise him about the wrong decision of the department. The PSS is expected to raise the demand for doing away with the cadre of BRP and CRP. It is worth mentioning here that many influential teachers had managed to sneak into position of BRP and CRP.
To fulfil the mandate of Right of Education (RTE) the education department initiated a process of recruitment in the cadre of BRP and CRP in the month of June 2014.
The department conducted an examination to recruit 285 BRP and 984 CRP. The creation of a separate cadre also meant that earlier posts like Block Resource Coordinator (BRC) and Cluster Resource Coordinator (CRC) become redundant and the serving personnel be sent back to their original schools. The PSS however were successful in stalling the process by putting pressure on previous Congress Government.
