The death of music composer and singer Aadesh Shrivastava at a rather young age has sent a wave of sadness across Hindi film industry. As tributes pour in for the musician who succumbed to a prolonged battle against cancer on September 5, it is in order to recognise and honour a very special contribution that Shrivastava made to the people of Uttarakhand- a heart-rending song on the floods that devastated the hill state in 2013. liked widely for his simplicity and good heart as much as for his fine gift as an artist, Shrivastava who enjoyed great success in Bollywood, had paid homage to the lives lost in Uttarakhand floods by composing and singing a very touching song.

And in a tragic irony, the words Shrivastava sang to narrate that loss seem to now relate to his own sorrowful end and the pain of his bereaved family. Shrivastava had said that he felt the pain of the many who had lost their homes and their loved ones during the floods and his song was a small tribute to the people of Uttarakhand.  The song was released on a news channel and on youtube and has got over 18,000 views. This musical piece that he had composed, he had sung along with Shaan. 'Kahin dil pareshan, kahin ankhen namm hain; kahan jaa rahe thhey, kahan aaj humm hain; jo bichhre hain unki miley kuch nishani, paharon pe toota paharon ka paani; na dekha kisi ne, na bhoga thaa ab tak; jo sach dhyaan mein bhee naa aaya thaa ab tak; sunaa humnein woh ab aasuon ki zubaani,' are the touching lyrics that Shrivastva had sung emotionally, feeling the loss of those who had died during the calamity.

And today, the people of Uttarakhand extend their condolences to the family while being grateful for this stirring gift Shrivastva gave to the State.
