The death of a pregnant woman on Wednesday has again highlighted the sorry state of affairs in the biggest women’s hospital of the State. It is interesting to the note that hospital has sanctioned bed strength of only 110 patients but the hospital actually caters 200 in house patients. The State Government had deployed doctors as per the sanctioned strength but these doctors are overworked due to extra patient load.
In absence of facilities like Sick Neo Natal Intensive Care unit (SNICU) patients from all parts of State and neighbouring States like Himachal Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh visit the hospital in large numbers. Medical experts are of the opinion that the Government should increase facilities in other hospitals so that the patient load in Doon hospital is reduced.
