Demanding that the State Government take over the DAV (PG) College or facilitate admissions for 35,000 applicants in various degree courses in the college, the leaders of various students groups of DAV (PG) College continued their protest on third day under the banner of College Bachao Sangharsh Samiti (CBSS) on Thursday. DAV (PG) College students union president Sidharth Rana said that a meeting has been called with student leaders in the college on Monday to discuss future strategy for fulfillment of the demand.

He said, “The leaders of various students groups of the college have been protesting under the banner of CBSS. We had submitted a

memorandum stating our

demand to the Chief Minister Harish Rawat through the district magistrate on July 1. The protest will be intensified in the coming days if no proactive action is taken,"

he added.

Rana alleged that several classrooms and labs in the college are damaged and likely to collapse at any time but the college management has not undertaken repair works for the last many years even though students are charged under this head.

“We are demanding that the State government should take over this college because the college management has failed to improve basic infrastructure and create conducive academic atmosphere in the college or the State Government should allow 35000 students to enroll in various degree courses in DAV (PG) College," he added.

DAV (PG) College Principal Devendra Bhasin said, “In compliance with orders of High Court, HNB Garhwal University and State Government, we will allow admission on sanctioned

seats in various degree bachelor and post graduation courses in the college. The admission process will

begin from July 15 with sale of admission prospectus in the college campus. Several steps have been taken to improve infrastructure and provide quality education to  the enrolled students,”

he said.
