Darkness in Haldwani as power cut goes beyond 20 hours

PNS

The normal life came to a standstill in different parts of Haldwani due to the disruption in power supply for more than 20 hours on Sunday. It is said that faults in Unchapul’s power substation feeder-line led to the power mess in Haldwani. The electricity supply that went off at 1 pm in different parts of Haldwani on Sunday  could be restored only at 9 am on Monday morning.

The dragging power blackouts in Haldwani is being attributed partly to local faults.  The areas which remained badly affected include Gasgodam Road, Kushumkhera crossing, RK Tent House Road, Himmatpur Talla and Himamtpur Malla and Pilikoth.

This is the second time in about two months when people of the aforesaid areas experienced power cuts for such a long period. They had faced a similar ordeal in January also. Though power supply was restored on Monday morning tripping continues to hit power supply at regular intervals throughout the day on Monday.

The hilly and remote areas are no less affected. Delay in rectifying the local faults compounded the people’s woes. With summer season approaching, more such ordeals are looming large foe the people of the area.
