The Departmental Assured Career Progression (DACP) scheme for the allopathic doctors would soon be implemented in the State. Medical health and family welfare Minister Surendra Singh Negi gave this assurance to a delegation of Provincial Medical Health Services (PMHS) on Wednesday.

The General Secretary of PMHS, Dr SK Goswami told The Pioneer that the Health Minister was supportive of the doctors’ demand for DACP and assured that a decision for its implementation would be taken in the next cabinet meeting. He said that the meeting was attended by Principal Secretary Health Om Prakash, Director General Health services, Dr GS Joshi, and other senior officers. The delegation of the doctors was led by the President of PMHS Dr BS Jangpangi.

Dr Goswami said that the DACP should be implemented in the State before December 23, the date from which Public Service Commission is starting the recruitment interviews of specialist medical officers. He said that the young medical postgraduates would be attracted to the health services of the State, if the State Government decides to implement the DACP.

Under the Dynamic Assured Carrier Progression (DACP) the doctors get assured increase in their grade pay after 4, 9, 13 and 20 years of the service. It is worth mentioning here that the neighbouring Uttar Pradesh has recently implemented this scheme. This scheme is also followed by the central and many other state governments.

The PMHS is of the opinion that one of the major reasons why the young medicos are refraining from joining the medical health department of the state is lack of growth opportunities which could be compensated by implementing the DACP.
