CS takes review of follow-up action on Investors Summit

PNS

The State’s Chief Secretary Utpal Kumar Singh met some senior officials at the State secretariat on Wednesday and took a point-wise follow-up of the memoranda of understanding (MoU) inked during the Investors Summit.

The State Government has set up a special monitoring and follow-up cell of the department of industry regarding the MoUs reached during the summit. The task of the cell is to remain in touch with the investors and ensure a proper follow-up.

In the meeting, CS directed that every department should undertake a regular follow-up of the MOUs related to them. He said that the activity related to the investments should be visible on the ground within next three months. He also directed the District Magistrates to regularly monitor the progress on the MoUs at their levels.

The principal secretary, Industry, Manisha Panwar informed that during the ‘Investors Summit, 602 investors had signed MoUs worth Rs 1,2,4000 crore.

She, further, said that the follow-up cell of the department of industries has so far directly contacted 402 investors. Panwar claimed that a strategy to implement the MoUs on the ground has been formulated. The nodal officers in all the departments concerned have been appointed too, she said.

The secretary told the CS that the apart from giving information to the investors online, they are being contacted by the cell on telephone.

The review meeting on the follow-up action taken after successful hosting of Destination Uttarakhand–Investors Summit-2018 clearly underlies the resolve of the State Government to ensure that the MoUs signed during the summit are brought into reality. Notably, the Government has also decided that the CS himself would monitor the follow-up action on the summit every Tuesday.

The State Government is extra charged over the follow-up action after some, including the opposition Congress leaders, have cast doubts over the actual implementation of the projects envisioned during the summit.

A viral video involving the industrialist Gautam Adani in which he purportedly termed the infrastructure of the State as poor is being used by the critics of the State Government to negate the investment claims made during the summit.
