Alarmed over the robbers who broke open a house in Dalawala and looted cash and ornaments on Wednesday night remaining at large on Friday, the state police high brass has asked the Nalapani police post in-charge to crack the case at the earliest or else face action. Notably, around half a dozen robbers had barged into the house of a businessman Sumit Tandon located in posh Saket Colony in Dalanwala and looted the house while confining the family members in a veranda.
State additional director general of police (law and order) Ram Singh Meena said that they were alarmed over the spiralling thefts, cases of swindling and other crimes in the state capital over the past few months. He further said that he has directed the district police officers to step up patrolling under the jurisdictional limits of all the police stations.
Meena also had convened a meeting with Dehradun police officers and police station officers at SSP office on Thursday night to review crimes. It is learnt from police sources that Meena has asked the Nalapani police post in-charge to crack the case by promptly arresting the robbers or else the department would be forced to take action against him.
A Dalanwala-based police officer said that based on the local inputs, three teams have been sent to western Uttar Pradesh while three others, including SOG, have been engaged too to crack the case. However, no concrete clues have come their way so far, he added.
The robbery in the heart of the city has triggered panic among the residents of the capital, leaving them insecure. Many of the worried residents say that the criminals coming and robbing houses with impunity while throwing a dare to the police to stop them is what the police should take in utmost seriousness. “If the culprits are nabbed promptly and are given deterrent punishment promptly it might leave a positive impact on the crime scene. What is, however, more important is the fact that the police are failing miserably to instill fear of the law in the criminals and those inclined to crimes,” said a senior resident from the area of Dalanwala where the robbery happened.
