The Communist Party of India (Marxist) burned the Union Government in effigy protesting against imposition of president’s rule in Uttarakhand. The party also submitted  a memorandum addressed to the President condemning replacement of the elected Government by President’s rule in the State.

At the protest held on Monday against the Union Government headed by prime minister Narendra Modi, the CPI(M) leaders strongly condemned imposition of president’s rule in the State. lambasting the Modi-led government, the communists further alleged that on the directions of the RSS, the Union Government was working towards destabilizing opposition State Governments to further the agenda of RSS in such States under President’s rule.

“The elected opposition governments across the nation are facing a financial siege being laid by the Modi government to prevent such governments from functioning properly. The policies of the BJP and Congress are responsible for the present political instability in the State. The Modi government pressurised the governor to bring the elected State government down before the Chief Minister could prove majority in the assembly. The Union Government is blatantly misusing section 356 to impose president’s rule in Uttarakhand which will hamper developmental works in the State. This will encourage the autocracy of the BJP and anarchy in the state while also increasing misappropriation of the State budget,” said the CPI (M) leaders.

In the memorandum addressed to the president, submitted to the district magistrate, the CPI (M) strongly condemned imposition of president’s rule terming it a direct interference of the centre in the State’s affairs. Bringing down the State’s elected government just before it could prove its majority in the Vidhan Sabha is part of a well planned conspiracy of the Modi Government.
