Condemning the alleged attack on CPI-M general secretary Sitaram Yechury by Hindu Sena activists at AKG Bhavan in New Delhi on Wednesday, some CPI-M members led by Dehradun district secretary Rajenddra Purohit staged a protest march and submitted a memorandum, addressed to President through district magistrate, on Thursday.

The protesters assembled at Deen Dayal Upadhyay Park and rallied to Collectorate while shouting slogans against BJP ruled central government. CPI-M member Shiv Prasad Devli said, “No one should think that CPI-M can be cowed down or silenced with violence.”

Anant Akash, another member, alleged that it was a pre-planned attack and CPI-M would not succumb to such threat. The party will continue to raise the issue of the farmers, he added.

Other members on the occasion alleged that PM Narendra Modi Government has failed to redress the concerns of the farmers. Adequate prices are not being given to the farmers for their produce.  They said that the Centre is goading them to commit suicide while failing to pay the farm loan.
