The formal counting of ballot papers in Dehradun for the election of new body of Provincial Medical Health Services (PMHS) on Wednesday appear a mere formality as election of Dr S K Goswami and Dr Naresh Napalchyal on the coveted posts of President and General Secretary is certain. The elections for PMHS the association of government doctors of Uttarakhand were held on Saturday.

The election officer for the PMHS election Dr S S Kandari told The Pioneer that the official announcement of the results would be done on November 25. “we are receiving the ballot papers from the districts and after screening them the formal announcement would be made,” he said.

Interestingly Dr Goswami who is the present general secretary of the organisation lagged behind Dr D P Joshi in the important district of Dehradun where he received 59 votes as compared to 83 received by Dr Joshi.

Despite getting less votes from Dehradun, Dr Goswami received good support from other districts like Pauri due to which he is expected to pip Dr Joshi to the post by a margin of about 50 votes. On the other post of GS there was a triangular contest between Dr Naresh Napalchayal, Dr Navneet Bedi and Dr Harendra Malik in which the victory of Dr Napalchyal is said to be certain.
