Cops question two seers in Mahant missing case

PNS

Around one and half month having passed since Mahant Mohan Dass of Bada Udaseen Akhada had gone missing from a running train, police have interrogated two seers from the akhada on Thursday for a few hours.

SSP and his team members are said to have questioned the seers on several matters that might have a bearing on the case of the missing saint. Police sources further say that some persons might be taken into custody for interrogation by the SIT in a day or two.

Notably, the seer had gone missing on September 15 while he was travelling to Mumbai on lokmanya Tilak Express for medical examination. Since then the seer has remained untraced.

Once the disappearance of the seer had been reported to police teams  were sent to Delhi, Agra, Mathura, Ghaziabad, Meerut and Muzaffarnagar where they  had scanned CCTV footages, but to no avail.

The mystery has remained unravelled despite  Kankhal police, CIU, STF, SIT and Uttar Pradesh police searching for the seer, a fact that raises more questions than are answered.    Besides, police have interrogated builders, villagers, some women and some close acquaintances of the Mahant.

“We are yet to get to the bottom of the case despite an intense search being launched from several states like Uttar Pradesh, Delhi, Gujarat and Maharashtra aside from Haridwar and its neighbourhood for the past 40 days.

The fact is that we are yet to stumble upon a clue that can help us solve the mystery behind the missing seer,” said a police officer privy to the investigation.

SSP Haridwar Krishna Kumar VK said while talking to The Pioneer on Thursday that a team is presently camping  in Gujarat and is interrogating the family members of the seer.

“We hope to  get some clues of the missing seer from them,” he added.
