Forum Working Towards Preserving Men’s Rights, an outfit meant to protect men’s rights, has accused police of helping fraud women and exploiting men.
President of the forum Ajay Kaushik while addressing a Press conference in Dehradun on Tuesday alleged that the men are vulnerable in India with the laws being blatantly biased against them. Reminding that November 18 is observed as International Men’s Day, he said the laws in the country are being misused to nail the men in a way unimaginable in a civilised society.
He said that most of acts related to the interests of the SC/ST, dowry torture, dowry murders, rape, assault, harassment and eve-teasing are being misused with impunity. “According to a 2014 report issued by the Union Home Ministry, 1,37,845 deaths of men were recorded due to domestic disputes, the figure of such deaths of the women standing at 46,000,” Kaushik said.
“People are not aware of the fact that there is no provision for husbands to lodge complaints. The greedy girls and their families are abusing the laws to extract money from the grooms’ house. The police are also involved as they milk such cases to earn bucks. They tend to file fabricated complaints to make the male accused to shell out huge amounts to have them withdrawn,” he said.
He pointed out that the reports lodged in the men’s forum and complaints recorded on helpline number for 2011 told a serious story. “It should be taken into account. But the reality is that men’s security figures nowhere in the law enforcers’ agenda. We are left to cry in the wilderness while being nailed in fictitious crimes,” he added.
