In view of lakhs of people expected to reach Dehradun during Jhanda Mela, scheduled to begin from Monday, the Dehradun police have drafted a traffic plan on Saturday to keep traffic smooth on the roads. Dehradun SSP Dr Sadanand Date said that the routes of City buses and Vikrams have been diverted from Saharanpur Chowk to Balliwala Chowk. Pedestrians face inconvenience as large number of pilgrims reaches Dehradun to attend Jhanda Mela. The city buses going Balliwala Chowk from Saharanpur and vice versa would follow the routes as Balliwala Chowk, Kamla Palace, Patelnagar Mandi, Saharanpur Chowk. He further said that the Vikrams going Balliwala Chowk from Saharanpur Chowk would follow the routes as Balliwala Chowk, Kanwali Road, Punjab Bhusa route cut and Saharanpur Chowk. No traffic will be allowed between Saharanpur Chowk and Jhanda Bazar. Vehicles reaching Dehradun from other States would be parked at Matawala Bagh parking venue. The vehicle operators have been directed to follow traffic rules drafted by the administration during Jhanda Mela, he added.
