local Congress leader SP Singh has challenged BJP national secretary and former cabinet minister Trivendra Singh Rawat to contest the Assembly by-poll from Doiwala Vidhan Sabha constituency. Addressing the media here on Sunday, Singh said that the people of Raipur Assembly constituency had rejected TS Rawat in the last Assembly elections.

Singh said that confident following the victory of the BJP in the recently concluded parliamentary elections, Rawat had challenged the Chief Minister Harish Rawat to contest the assembly by-polls from Doiwala constituency.  “As a party worker, I challenge TS Rawat to contest the by-polls from Doiwala constituency. The Chief Minister can contest from any assembly constituency in the State as he is a national level political leader. On the other hand TS Rawat is a local leader as he has represented Doiwala constituency twice in the State Assembly. He had contested the last assembly election from Raipur constituency but the voters there had rejected him,” said Singh. He further said that the Chief Minister has facilitated considerable development during his tenure so far. Doiwala being made into a Tehsil is among the achievements of the State Government. Singh said that if the Congress high command says so, he may contest the Assembly by-poll from Doiwala constituency.
