Congress regaining lost ground: Sonia

PNS

After winning all three Assembly seats in bypoll on July 25, Chief Minister Harish Rawat along with State PCC president Kishore Upadhyaya, State congress in-charge Ambika Soni, Rajya Sabha MP Mahendra Singh Mahra, Ex-MP Pradeep Tamta and newly elected MlAs including Heera Singh Bisht and Rekha Arya met with AICC president Sonia Gandhi in Delhi on Saturday.

Congratulating CM Rawat, Mrs Gandhi asked them to work hard to meet people’s expectation. She also expressed thanks to the people of Uttarakhand for electing Congress candidates in all three Assembly bypolls. Congress swept all the three Assembly bypolls retaining Dharchula seat, which went to CM Rawat, and wresting Doiwala and Someshwar seat from BJP.

It has given a big blow to the BJP in the State and reduced their number in the State Assembly to 28 from 30 while the Congress number has rose from 32 to 35 out of 70 member Assembly.  Congress high command has categorically said that it is okay that it was bypoll but it has ascertained that our position in Vidhan Sabha is strong than others.

Instead of getting panic from the BJP led NDA Government, you educate the people about your achievement and welfare schemes emphatically. It has justified the  work done by CM Rawat in the last five months. Since general election, the Congress workers were looking de-motivated but these three bypolls result have boosted the morale of the Congress party.

Mrs Gandhi further said that after general election, people were anticipating that the Congress will again witness defeat in Assembly Election as well but these three Assembly bypoll results have ascertained our believe that if we work on ground then we can improve our prospect in future. Assembly election situation is entirely different from general election. Here local, caste and social equation play pivotal role so we will have to establish better coordination among them. Besides, we have to raise inflation among people seriously.

Newly elected MlA Rekha Arya, who defeated her opponent BJP candidate Mohan Ram Arya by 10,037 votes, said that Mrs Gandhi has appreciated the effort of CM Rawat for winning all three seats. Even Congress leader Rajiv Shukla said that these three Assembly bypolls result has justified our claim that Modi effect is getting diminish. State Congress in-charge Ambika Soni and senior leader Moti lal Vohra have also congratulated State leaders for registering handsome victory.

CM Rawat has also accepted that he was not sure about the party’s victory in Doiwala, so he expressed heartiest congratulation to the people of Doiwala for giving their mandate to Heera Singh Bisht. It is also true that with these victory the Congress workers are highly motivated and will continue our public welfare work in future as well.
