The Congress workers assured Chief Minister Harish Rawat on his birthday on Sunday that they would work to win all the five parliamentary seats in the state in the lok Sabha elections 2014. Party’s State spokesman Surendra Kumar Agarwal also lambasted the BJP stating that the CBI enquiry recommended by the State into the alleged NRHM scam is not against any specific person but the BJP is on the defensive believing that the move is aimed at framing former chief minister Ramesh Pokhriyal ‘Nishank’, who is also the BJP candidate from Haridwar parliamentary constituency.

Agarwal said that to mark CM Harish Rawat’s birthday, the party workers had distributed sweets and assured Rawat that they would work to ensure a resounding victory for the party candidates from all five parliamentary constituencies in Uttarakhand.  He further said, “The BJP leaders in Uttarakhand appear to be in a flap after the State government recently recommended a CBI inquiry into the alleged NRHM scam. We sympathise with such BJP leaders. Even though the CBI inquiry has not been recommended against any specific person, the BJP leaders have assumed that it is aimed at framing former CM Ramesh Pokhriyal ‘Nishank’. On August 21, 2011 a former CM of the BJP had himself called the ‘Nishank’ government among the most corrupt governments,” said Agarwal. He further informed that Congress president Sonia Gandhi is slated to address public rallies at Haridwar and Tehri on May 4 while Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi will address the public in the State on April 29.
