Determined to take the State Government and the ruling BJP head-on, the State Congress has decided to hold a major demonstration on the day the Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrives in Dehradun to inaugurate the Investors Summit on Sunday.
Informing the media persons on Wednesday, the State Congress chief Pritam Singh said that the party would organise a dharna at Gandhi Park on October 7, the day PM Modi would visit Dehradun. “We would ask the PM to inform the people about the sum the country is paying for Rafale fighter jets. Besides, we would demand him to explain the spike in prices of essential commodities and fuel, in particular,’’ he said.
Launching a blistering attack on the NDA Government at the Centre and the BJP-helmed Government in the State, Singh said that the price of gas cylinder has crossed Rs 900 while the prices of petrol and diesel are going through the roof. “Yet, the State Government is consistently claiming that the prices are under control,” he said..
In a barb at BJP over the saffron party having organised foot marches to mark on Gandhi Jayanti, he said that BJP remembering Gandhi is good. “However, the Congress is committed to maintaining communal harmony as shown by Mahatma Gandhi,” he added.
Taking a dig at the PM over his self-proclaimed chowkidar of the nation rhetoric, the State Congress chief said that Modi has been exposed. “He is all set to kiss defeat in the upcoming elections,” he said.
Speaking to the media persons, the State party in-charge Anugrah Narayan Singh said that the PM must answer the simple question put forward by the Congress president Rahul Gandhi over the exact price of Rafale fighter planes. “But the PM has been maintaining a stony silence,” he said.
Dubbing BJP as a party pandering to the industrialists, Anugrah Narayan Singh said that the BJP Government is changing the labour laws to benefit the industrialists at the expense of the working class people.
