Following crushing defeat it received at the hands of BJP in all the five Lok Sabha constituencies of Uttarakhand, a wounded Congress party has hit back with vengeance and attacked chief minister Trivendra Singh Rawat for his alleged direct involvement in corruption. The party has racked up the old issue of involvement of Trivendra Singh Rawat for seeking money from Vice president of Kisan Morcha of Jharkhand for making him chairman of the Gau Sewa Aayog of Jharkhand. At that time Rawat was in charge of Jharkhand. In another attack, the Congress party has claimed that Sanjay Gupta, the partner of Chief Minister took money from Ayush Gaur, the employer of a media house which purportedly conducted a sting of some people close to CM for doing favour for his business ventures.
Addressing media persons at Rajiv Bhawan, the headquarter of state Congress, the deputy leader of Congress is state assembly Karan Mahra said that the CM should either come clean on the corruption charges by ordering an inquiry or it would be presumed that he is involved in corruption. On the Jharkhand issue, Mahra claimed that Amritesh Singh who was the Vice President of Kisan Morcha of Jharkhand had transferred a sum of Rs 25 lakhs in 15 bank accounts which were controlled by Harendra Singh Rawat, a close relative of Trivendra Singh Rawat. Mahra claimed that Harendra is husband of Savita Rawat who is real sister of Sunita Rawat, the wife of Trivendra Singh Rawat. Incidentally when this money was being transferred, demonetisation had been declared by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi and old currency notes of Rs 1000 and Rs 500 were deposited in these accounts.
The Congress leader claimed that Amritesh Singh temporarily became hostile to Trivendra Singh Rawat when he was not made the chairman of Gau Sewa Aayog and the money which he paid was not returned back. However Amritesh Singh was managed by those close to CM. Later this person got a mango orchard spread in 39 acres on Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh border, Mahra claimed.
In support of his allegation, the Congress leader provided copies of whatApp exchanges Amritesh had allegedly with Trivendra Singh Rawat and details of the bank accounts in which the money was transferred.
Mahra said that earlier the CM and BJP were in a denial mode over association of Sanjay Gupta with CM but after his last press conference, the BJP leader Munna Singh Chauhan had accepted that Gupta and CM know each other. Showing a sting video, the Congress leader claimed that Sanjay Gupta took an advance payment of Rs 5 lakh on April 19, 2018 from Piyush Gaur for arranging a meeting with CM. On May 5, 2018, Gupta took Gaur to CM residence for meeting. Mahra claimed that on the very day, Gaur paid a sum of Rs 2 lakh to Gupta but the later becomes angry as he ( Gaur) had not made full payment. The remaining amount of Rs 3 lakh was deposited in to the bank account of Gupta wife three days later, Mahra claimed.
