Cong holds dharna at Gandhi Park

PNS

In protest against what it termed total failure of state government on all fronts, the state unit of Congress party organised a dharna at Gandhi Park here on Tuesday.

Speaking on the occasion, the Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) president Pritam Singh referred the present chief minister Trivendra Singh Rawat as the most insensitive of all the CMs the state had seen so far.

He said that the way the government machinery functioned during the recent natural disaster in many parts of the state, it looked as if there is no department named disaster management in the state.  The PCC president said that even though the CM himself heads this department, it has failed miserably in dealing with the disaster. Launching into a vitriolic attack on the state government, he said that the dengue has assumed epidemic proportions in state capital and its seriousness can be gauged from the fact that one senior doctor has fell prey to dengue but the CM of state who also holds the health portfolio, remains unfazed. Pritam Singh said that the union government is using the central agencies like Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), Enforcement Directorate (ED) and Income Tax (IT) department to muzzle the voice of opposition. He said that the despite all odds the Congress party would continue to raise voice against anti people policies of government.

Speaking on the occasion, the leader of opposition in state assembly, Indira Hridayesh said the only agenda of the union and state governments is to divide people on communal lines and distract people from the real issues. Former PCC president Kishore Upadhyaya, Kedarnath MLA Manoj Rawat, Bhagwanpur MLA Mamta Rakesh, former MLA Rajkumar, former MLA Ramyash Singh, Sanjay Paliwal, Ambrish Kumar and vice president Surya Kant Dhasmana also addressed the dharna.
