Taking cognisance of Congress member Ritu Kandiyal’s alleged involvement in blackmailing suspended additional secretary, Home, JP Joshi, who is in jail for alleged rape, the Congress has expelled Kandiyal who was the Uttarakhand general secretary of the Indian Youth Congress in the State.
Addressing media here on Monday, the Youth Congress Uttarakhand head Bhuwan Kapdi said that Kandiyal had been expelled from the party in view of her involvement in blackmailing Joshi.
“Kandiyal has been expelled from the party based on the revelations in the case made by the police so far
about Kandiyal getting the complainant woman introduced to Joshi and then blackmailing him on the basis of a CD of the complainant and Joshi in a compromising
situation. Her actions have dented the image of the party and there is no place for such people in the Congress,” stressed Kapdi.
He further informed that after allegations of manhandling and misbehaviour with election unit members by Nainital lok Sabha segment Indian Youth Congress
vice chairman Sanjay Bisht were found to be true, he has been suspended from the party.
He said that these decisions had been taken on the recommendation of the Indian Youth Congress national president Rajiv Satav.
