Though the two factions of the Uttarakhand Kranti Dal had held talks and reached agreement on some points, the air of uncertainity still hovers around the party.
While party chief Kashi Singh Airy claims that he has been democratically elected recently to the post, the former chief, Trivendra Singh Panwar also maintains that he is the party chief as Airy was expelled from the party in the past.
It should be noted that Panwar has been opposing Airy’s election, terming it unconstitutional. However, Panwar and his supporters ended their protest outside the party office in Dehradun on May 26 following talks held with Airy.
In the first round of talks leaders of the Airy and Panwar faction agreed to consolidate forces to strengthen the UKD for developing it into a viable third alternative to the BJP and Congress in the State.
Airy informed The Pioneer that he was going out of station and would be returning on June 3 after which the second round of talks will be held with the leaders of the Panwar faction. He stressed that his election was valid but some persons were trying to create confusion. Meanwhile, Panwar was not available to comment on the situation.
