Comply with orders in one week: CM

SUNIl KUMAR

Chief Minister Harish Rawat has instructed the Chief Secretary, Principal Secretary and Secretary to execute all his public announcements, which he had made since he became the CM of Uttarakhand, in one week.

He further said in case any of them is  found to be illogical they should send the file to him with note in a week. If you fail to do so you would face the music in future, he warned. The order has triggered panic among the officials. They feel they are left high and dry.

On Thursday, when The Pioneer met Principal Secretary, Secretary, additional secretary and Joint Secretary it was found that most of them were either busy in complying the CM’s announcement or instructing their colleagues to issue the Government order as per the CM’s instruction.

During the investigation, it was found too that a few announcements will not be complied with by the officials. For instance, the CM had announced that Doiwala community health centre will be developed as a 100-bed hospital and fund crunch would not be an issue. Now the official has rejected the proposition as unviable.

According to the official, the 100 bed hospital would not be viable because within 10 kilometer there is Jollygrant hospital and within 20 kilometer AIIMS hospital is available. Even if we spend money in building the hospital it would turn a white elephant. It seems the announcement was made because Rawat has eyes on Doiwala as the constituency he wants to contest from.  Now, he is representing Dharchula assembly constituency.

Hence, the pressure mounted on the official to execute all such announcements in Pithoragarh district.Even the CM has categorically asked the Secretary to execute the announcements related to Pithoragarh district as otherwise Mota Pehalwan (Ex-MlA Harish Dhami, who resigned as MlA to ensure CM Rawat’s entry into Uttarakhand Assembly as member of the house), would get annoyed.

One additional secretary was heard shouting to the finance department under-secretary, who had made an adverse note on the Chief Minister’s announcement. He was heard saying that diplomatic sentence would not do. He asked for a clearly written note so that he can produce it to the CM.

Thereafter, the under-secretary was seen running with a bunch of files.  He cleared the file and presented it before the secretary in a few minutes.
