PNS

Demanding redressal of their pending demands, the Collectorate employees under the banner of Uttarakhand Collectorate Ministerial Employee Union (UCMEU)  stayed away from works in several districts of the State on Tuesday on the first of their three- day work boycott stir. The protesters claimed that around 1000 Collectorate employees  boycotted works as part of the agitation being launched  in support of their demands in the Collectorate and Tehsils.

In Dehradun, the agitators led by an association member Ravindra Kumar gathered at the Collectorate premises and sloganeered  against  the state government for sitting on their  demands. Similar protests were also held in other districts of the State, the agitators claimed.

Their demands include 10 per cent seat for  the ministerial employees be kept reserved through promotion for the posts of Nayab Tehsildars and immediate promotion of administrative officials on the vacant posts pending in the department.  Reformation of  the collectorate departments and qualification of ministerial employees being kept graduation in place of intermediate are among the other demands.

The stir affected works  at the Collectorate and Tehsils, leaving those who went there to have their works done inconvenienced.

A protester said that despite written assurances given by the state government regarding their long- pending demands, their concerns are yet to be addressed. They would continue to boycott their works for another two days as planned in support of their demands and in case things do not make headway they would be forced to intensify their stir further  in the  coming days, he warned.
