CM urges officials to swiftly process files

PNS

Chief Minister Harish Rawat has stressed that the processing of files in the secretariat should be made more efficient ensuring that a file doesn’t stay with a particular official for longer than the required time. The CM said this while conducting a surprise inspection of the secretariat on Monday.

He also conducted unannounced inspection of Uttarakhand roadways buses and Transport Nagar in the State capital.

Reaching the secretariat on an unannounced visit, the CM inspected various sections including sugar cane, cooperative, Public Works Department, sports, housing, justice, industrial development, transport, labour and employment, revenue, agriculture and marketing. Checking files in all the sections, the CM also noted the file pendency. Going through the registers he cross checked the absent officials with leave applications. Some officials were absent without their leave applications being approved but this was not marked in the attendance register, the CM noted with disapproval. He pointed to the need for improving the pace of file movement in the secretariat. Files should not remain with any official for more than required number of days without valid reason. The additional and joint secretaries should regularly inspect the sections concerned of their departments. The additional and joint secretaries concerned will be responsible for any shortcoming, warned Rawat.

After the secretariat, the Chief Minister reached Haridwar Road where he inspected Uttarakhand roadways buses checking the number of passengers and functioning of conductors. The CM also traveled in one of the buses for a short distance and interacted with the passengers.

Rawat then reached Transport Nagar to review the conditions here. He directed the Mussoorie Dehradun Development Authority (MDDA) secretary Prakash Chandra Dumka to ensure that space allotted to transporters for their office should not be used as a godown. He also directed that street lights be installed and steps be taken to improve the condition of potable water supply, toilets and drains. The drainage system should be repaired and the condition of the parking space for trucks and other vehicles should be improved. Requesting the transporters to also assist the authorities in maintaining cleanliness in the area, he also asked them to refrain from improper parking of trucks on the road.
