Chief Minister Harish Rawat has assured the family members and villagers that he will himself monitor the progress in the case of Sachin lakheda who has been missing from Patudi village for 27 days now. Though the police had converted the missing person’s case into a case of kidnapping following public pressure, they have not been able to find any clue as to his whereabouts so far. His family members and villagers met the CM on Friday demanding action in the case.

On Friday, a delegation of the villagers met the CM and demanded that steps be taken to ascertain the whereabouts of Sachin without further delay. Talking to the CM they questioned why the police delayed sending their dog squad to the village from where the man had disappeared. They averred that the police was not questioning the suspects in the case stringently which is one of the reasons why the police have no clue about his whereabouts though nearly a month has passed since his disappearance. Sachin’s family members said that they are tired of hollow assurances being given to them by officials. If no concrete progress is made in the case, they will be forced to stage protest at the chief minister’s residence, they warned. The CM assured them that he would hold a meeting with officials to review progress in the search for Sachin and would not hesitate to replace the official concerned if needed. If needed, the option of recommending a CBI inquiry would also be considered by the State, said the Chief Minister.

It will be recalled that Kataldi village resident Sachin lakheda had gone to Patudi village for a marriage function when he had gone missing from this village on November 28. The police had initially lodged a missing person case but following protest by villagers the case was lodged as a kidnapping case. The police then sent a forensic team to the village and questioned some suspects to find a clue about Sachin’s disappearance but no progress has been achieved in this case yet.
