Inspired by the success of the  scheme christened as Indira Amma under which people are getting meal comprising four rotis, dal, rice and vegetable for just `20 at HNB Complex, Chief Minister Harish Rawat has asked those interested to open similar canteens at ISBT and Doon Hospital under the name of Bahno ki Rasoi (sisters’ canteen). They will serve the same quantity and quality of food for the same paltry `20 per plate at both these places. “For this, the state would provide them with wheat and rice at the APl rates.

later, similar canteens will come up in all the district headquarters,” he said. “By empowering women, we can reduce poverty. Strengthening women self- help groups (SHG) is a must  for this,” he said. CM also instructed secretary rural development to release subsidy to them shortly. It would be pertinent to mention here that SHG despite  spending `30 to prepare one plate is charging `20 from the  customers with the State Government paying `10 per meal by way of subsidy.

CM asked the chief development officer to deposit subsidy amount in SHG’s account by the first week of every month.
