Uttarakhand Chief Minister Harish Rawat appreciated the use of modern technology by the police department for effective policing as well as filling the communication gap between the public and the police. But at the same time, police will have to change their attitude and aptitude in their workings to achieve desired level of policing in the State. Crimes are on the rise because police has failed to restore fear of the law among the criminals. They will have to work hard to restore fear among the criminals to put check on crimes. Technology would help the police enhance its work efficiency and transparency. Without naming the judiciary, the CM said that the system works in such a way that offenders have no qualms about committing crimes because they think that it would take many years for the punishment to be awarded to them. The police will have to work effectively to restore fear of the law among the criminals, he added.
