While participating as the chief guest at the passing out parade of 11th Basic Recruitment Training Course at Central Training Centre of Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) at Srinagar in Pauri district on Saturday, the Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat appreciated   the rising participation of the women in such parades.

He termed the increasing number of women joining the armed forces  as a positive development for the nation. “This is how the spirit  of the Beti Bachao –Beti Padho programme is  being realised in the armed forces of the country,” he said.

Referring to the men and women from Jammu and Kashmir taking specialised training here before they return to combat terror, CM said that they have come from Srinagar of J&K to Srinagar of Garhwal and the gap between the two Srinagars is being bridged by them.

While Srinagar is the capital of J&K, Srinagar, Garhwal was also earlier a capital of a princely State, he added.

Congratulating the family members of the trainees, the CM said that they must be  saluted for  pledging  their children to the service of the country. “The country is strong since the armed forces are strong. It is heartening to see that the youth of the border areas are going back after taking training. This would definitely make our borders stronger,” he said.

He lauded the SSB for keeping vigil on the Indo-Nepal and Indo-Bhutan borders. “This aside, SSB is also undertaking other responsibilities with dedication and commitment.

They help the administration in maintaining law and order during the elections,” he said.   The CM also released a book titled “Devbhoomi” written by the trainees on the occasion.
