PNS

Chief Minister Harish Rawat directed the Dehradun district magistrate to at least partially revoke the blanket ban on cycles on Mussoorie’s mall road, said members of a Dehradun based youngsters’ group. This and other aspects were addressed by the CM during interaction with a 26-member delegation of Making a Difference by Being the Difference (MAD) at Bijapur guest house late on Sunday evening.

According to MAD, due to the chief minister’s proactive approach towards the youngsters’ group they have attended four meetings with Rawat within a period of two years. The group averred that Rawat also called Mussoorie Dehradun Development Authority vice chairman R Meenakshi Sundaram asking him to involve the group in the smart city planning process, after MAD

pointed out some glaring, obvious loopholes in MDDA's planning so far. He also directed the MDDA secretary directing him to collaborate with the group for intra-city plantation.

The youngsters also presented the paper bags they had made in view of the polythene ban and requested that the group be accorded permission for raising awareness in schools to encourage the use of paper bags. They also sought permission for wall paintings on roadside walls and flyover walls along with roadside tree plantation.

MAD founding member Abhijay Negi said that they also presented summary of report prepared by National Environmental Engineering Research Institute of India (NEERI), on carrying capacity based developmental planning of Doon Valley.
