Vowing to bring about a turnaround in the industrial sector of the hill state, Chief Minister Harish Rawat said on Saturday that his Government is determined to provide a better environment to  ensure that  the  industries thrive here.  Public Private Partnership (PPP) has risen  enormously in the disciplines of Education and Health in the state, he said. Alluding  to the glorious history  of the State  for housing eminent  educational institutions, he said  those being run under SGRR Education Mission are shining. These institutions under the benign guidance of Mission’s chairman Mahant Devendra Dassji Maharaj are also assisting the state government  to better  things in the realms of education and health, he said.

Employment exchange will be asked to enroll youths while  detailing  their skills so that these data can be used by the industrial institutions located across the globe, CM said. “With skilled youth manpower abundantly available in the state, there  is hardly  any  reason  why   the industries would not  thrive here,” he said.

Affirming that Uttarakhand   is an ideal place for  investment, he said  the presence of numerous ITIs, Poly-techniques, engineering and medical colleges in the state is a pointer  that shows there is a  vast scope for intensive industrialization.  “The state government is  now engaged in imparting skill development training to the youth so  as to enable them to serve the existing and upcoming industries of the state as well as the nation,” he said.

Stressing on the youths adapting themselves with the advancing  spirit  of the time, he said they must brush up their skills  instead of dissipating energies in   seeking jobs. “They must aspire to  become entrepreneurs themselves,” he said, adding that the  state government is set to create at least 1000 small entrepreneurs per annum.

Invoking the then Prime Minister’s initiative in 2007 christened  as  Skill Mission to inculcate skill in India, he said  the time has come for them to  realise their capability and upcoming challenges. “Now, development should be vertical and horizontal as well,” CM said.

State cabinet minister Yashpal Arya said that with the state suffering from  no scarcity of talent, what they would have to do now   is to identify and brush up talents. “We will groom our youths in  step with the needs of  industries,” he said.

CEO, Powercon Co, Gurgaon, Vijay Rai said that they would have to come out of the cocoon of GDP and start working towards Growth Development of Progress. “Uttarakhand is a young and progressive state. The Corporate world and the Government have a will to work together symbiotically. The Business Model of the developed countries of the world is far different from what  is prevailing in  our country.  We too will have to stride  ahead, envisioning  new  roadmaps and leaving the beaten tracks,” he said. Motivating the youth, he said that the corporates do not wait for a seat to be vacant. “They  rather create  new seats to accommodate the deserving youths,” he  added.

Executive director, Devyani International, V P Singh said that his company will be offering as much as 1,000 jobs to the students of Uttarakhand. This will be done in the next few months. “Mere skills and qualifications do not make a candidate deserving for the job. We are equally concerned  about the knowledge, moral character and habits of the candidates. Those who shy away from taking challenges head-on cannot expect to get jobs in the Corporate sector and even anywhere else,” he cautioned.

Prof P K Garg of Uttarakhand Technical University, expressed views on behalf of the educational institutions. Among others,  state technical education minister, Yashpal Arya, Pharma Company DSM, Cinomatch’s CEO Vineet Singhal, SIV’S MD Manoj Barthwal, Quest Diagnostics’s senior director HR Arun Goyal, HCl Technology’s global head R Anand, Mankind’s HR head Pradeep P Sachdeva  dwelt   on the demands of the advancing markets.
